Living Green In Your Home

If you've lived in your own place for a while back in your home-country, you've probably found a number of ways to live the lifestyle you want without costing the Earth. Over here in Japan, some of those ideas will translate easily, but you may be surprised to find that some of them won't. Japan has a different array of consumer products to choose from, and sometimes has different ways of solving the same problems we encounter back home.

However, one thing you might like to start with is to make your own "No Junk Mail" sign:

チラシや広告はお断りします

(chirashi ya koukoku wa okotowarishimasu - "I decline advertisements and leaflets").
Please also remember to pursue those who ignore this!

Refuse plastic bags with the following phrases: fukuro wa irimasen "I don't want any bags", and kono fukuro o tsukaimasu "I will use this/these bag(s)".
